06/2024: comic + gaming
June 2024 Edition of The JEFF Blog
Lots of art updates as I get some work in for two new comics. Also Hades 2 is lit. Read on for the updates.
This May, I’ve been able to put in some work for two new comics, The Alleyway: A Story about Spaghetti and an unnamed project. Still in the sketch phase for both, hopefully you can see the faint pencils.
In 2020, I drew this sheet of alleyway characters (+ this sketch) that I like a lot and always wanted to turn into a comic, which will be The Alleyway: A Story about Spaghetti. This comic is more like a pilot or prologue to the original story in mind, but it’s a good short story that will test the waters for the main characters and world. Also having some fun with the format, it’s a four panel but laid out horizontally and some flexibility with merging panels. For print, I’m imagining a cool longer, horizontal book (10” x 3.5” ?). Print hopefully ready for 2025, but digital release later this year.
Here’s another comic I have on the side, no title. I’m mostly having fun with shapes and stuff in this sequence where two beings are building and growing together. Likely ready for 2025.
HADES 2 SPOILERS IF YOU DON’T WANT TO SEE IT

Hades 2 released last month and it’s been so fun, gameplay and art-wise. It’s really cool to see them expand beyond the main Olympians and seeing the incarnates personified in their designs and stories. Every character has a lot of details in their design the refer to their respective myths, but my favourite so far is Echo’s with the stacked rocks. I’ve finished everything that’s available, but excited for when the full game releases with more completed stories.
If you’re into action roguelikes and Greek mythology, Hades and Hades 2 are right up your alley. I got into Hades fairly late, but even if you’re not into Greek mythology, the gameplay is very satisfying and smooth to play.

I found out there’s a “cookie” bake mode on my toaster oven that bakes way more evenly and doesn’t burn the bottoms, so now I’m a bake god. Might try scones or honey cookies.

Thanks for reading my updates! I’ve been late on the last two blogs, but now that I’m fully focusing on some personal projects, I hope to stay more on schedule. Stay tuned for July 3 for the next blog, likely more art updates.
