11/2025: 🥶
November 2025 Edition of The JEFF Blog
I mixed up the dates, thought yesterday was Tuesday lol. A mild October for me. I’ve been starting a few sketches for ideas but not having much motivation carrying through with rendering, so I’ll be sharing all my incomplete artworks from October. Some fun bakes, some new music single releases that I have mixed feelings about. Feeling pretty low energy, but it’s chill.

I sort of scrambled to pull together a spooky, halloween piece, pulling a random all-nighter on Oct. 30 so I could make a post for Halloween. Low key just wanted a post with the new Tame Impala single. In my artwork, I’ve been leaning towards this spaced out composition that kind of evenly places these creatures on a plane. As a default composition, it lets me go “head-empty” mode and draw more instinctively and not overthink too much about meaning or messaging. I’m developing this “draw first, think later” approach and maybe I’ll think about bringing this into more commissioned work in 2026. I need some extra freelance funds.

I’ve been doing some sketching, but haven’t had that much motivation for rendering.
First piece was from a rejected sketch for a previous project with McSweeney’s. I liked the setting, but rendering the artwork and fixing the lighting and values made me lose hope on making it look good. Broken, old ruins are cool settings and I like the opportunity to play with shadow though.
Second sketch: drawings of some totem/creature things. I bought some wood carving tools recently and thought I would try jumping into carving and designing my own creatures. These guys are definitely too hard for a starter (I haven’t even started practicing or trying it out yet), but one day…
Third sketch was inspired from this concert video of Wallows. It felt too stable, so I got bored of it, but I like the lamp dude.
A fun illustration for my new comic, “FRAUGS”. Preliminary drawing to set the mood for the direction and story.
Fun flying pig head being resurrected Frankenstein-style. Left it in linework for a collab.
And here’s some progress on the upcoming holiday card. It’s giving “christmas tree vibes with the fam”. Thinking this will be the interior art and I also want to try some christmas-y pattern border + spot illustration for the outside.

MOOSIC, a lot of releases this October, but wasn’t a fan of the full albums, only select singles:
Private - The Neighbourhood (the new songs are aight, I feel like this song best flexes Neighbourhood’s identity though)
No Reply - Tame Impala (the first half of Deadbeat is good, but not a fan of the 2nd half)
Indecision - Daniel Caesar (not a big fan of his new album, dabbling with his unreleased stuff)
I Want - Mk.gee (Two Star & The Dream Police might be my favourite album, shit still bangs)
Soft Spot - keshi (I’m a sucker for these mellow band instrumental songs), Bodies is not bad
Thanks for reading my November update! December is coming up, so I need to finalize the Holiday Cards (maybe free cards again this year?), no holiday tabling events on the horizon though. I’m planning a long, Asia trip for next year (Taiwan, Osaka, plus more?) so been gathering info and finding a way to make it not so expensive. And soon, I’ll be in Las Vegas for a work trip, so maybe some fun travel pics? Stay tuned for December 10th for the next part in The JEFF Blog!
